Roy & Sheila McAllister (5.5.2008)

We did crafts again with the older girls on Thursday. This time we made more necklaces (Sheila thought up some new designs for them to copy) and also bracelets. Quite a few of them made matching necklaces and bracelets. One of the girls asked Roy if we’d brought the idea from Scotland only to be told that Sheila had copied a necklace we’d bought in Quilmes the last time we were here! There are at least two local haberdashers that sell the wooden beads. One rejoices in the name ‘El Divino Boton’. (The Divine Button!)

At the beginning of the week Roy received an email from Juan Pablo Garcia a young man whom we met when he and his wife Noemí came to visit the Home.  It was to ask him to give his testimony this Sunday in a church in La Plata (on the coast, south west of Buenos Aires) on inquiry, that was clarified to include, as well as his personal testimony, what we do in our church at home and why we are in Argentina and what we are doing in the Home in Quilmes.  Juan Pablo offered to interpret for him, which was kind, but Roy felt it would be very much easier to speak in Spanish.  When the time came, Juan Pablo took the microphone out of its stand on the reading desk and gave it to Roy to hold which meant that he couldn’t use his prepared notes!  Fortunately, having prepared and gone over them a few times he was able to speak without them, which probably sounded better, and he only forgot one or two minor points.  Afterwards Juan Pablo and Noemí took us to a restaurant and treated us to a meal from the traditional ‘parilla’.

We thank the Lord for this good news regarding the believers in Rangoon but there is so much to do in helping others. I know that you will pray for this work. I have asked Chow Kee to send me the details of the account for relief work which I can forward to you if requested.

I have not heard any news about the bible school building in Hmaw Bi, hope it is safe and okay. The children centers in Hlaing Thar Yar and Htauk Kyant, no news yet. Disable center from Hmaw Bi, no news yet. Pray that these children will be in safe.
The devastation in Yangon
seems to be great and we can only imagine that other areas, where the cyclone hit might be even worse, because houses in rural areas are often built with Bamboo or wood as opposed to brick and concrete in cities.”

Allan & Jacqui McKinnon (6.5.2008)

During our time in Tanzania, Jacqui was hugely encouraged by the way in which the children's centre has continued to run smoothly under the direction of Wens Temba and David Crawford. They have done a great job not only in the day to day running but have themselves been encouraged by the ongoing spiritual development of the children in the centre.   Praise God with is in this new development in the centre's leadership and increasing independence.

The work amongst the children at the Vila is real heavy and would ask for pray for both couples, recently several younger children have been added to their number, 1-3 year olds and this increases the pressure as they need special care and attention please remember this work specially in prayer, for it needs much wisdom.
Work at the  assembly grows slowly, one you man in the assemble is planning to have a ' children’s meeting ' at his home, pray for this new work.
