
‘The land of the Midnight Sun’, Norway sits at the top of the world. Mountains and fjords give great beauty to the home of the Vikings and Norsemen. North
Sea oil and gas have brought great wealth to Norway. The Lutheran Church is the state church and has a large evangelical element. Materialism, liberal and excessive charismatic teachings have all had significant effects to the detriment of the church in recent years. The evangelical community as a whole in Norway has been very active in sending Protestant missionaries throughout the world.
Present Work
Six UK Brethren workers are based in Norway. Many other agencies and groups are also active, amongst them Pentecostal, Baptist and Free Lutheran evangelical. The work includes:
Bible teaching and pastoral care
Emmaus Bible correspondence course work
Prison visitation
Personal evangelism
Needs
Bible teachers, evangelists, personal workers and church planters
Children’s and youth workers
Professional people. Especially young couples who can be of help in
local assemblies, are greatly needed
People who are committed to long-term service are a priority
