Botswana

The Kalahari Desert dominates much of Botswana and as a result this country, three times the size of the UK, has only 1.5 million inhabitants. Diamonds have brought considerable wealth to the country and copper, nickel and gold have also contributed. African indigenous churches that mix Biblical truth and traditional religion are highly prominent. The spread of AIDS is seriously threatening the nation and the life expectancy has dropped from 62 to 47 in the last ten years.
